Forget Samsung Galaxy S2, iPhone 5 Needs Worry About “Galaxy Skin”

All sights are set on the Samsung Galaxy S2 to take on the iPhone 5. With Samsung already racking up 3 million sales for its Galaxy S2 overseas, the iPhone 5 no doubt has some stiff competition ahead of it. However while the iPhone 5 will reportedly launch in September and we can’t don’t expect to see an upgrade (iPhone 6) for at least another year after that, Samsung smartphones are a whole different ballgame. While we were waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S2 to launch since early May, Sammy had since detailed the Samsung Droid Charge, Infuse 4G and even the rumored Hercules. Taking this into account, the Samsung Galaxy S2 may not be the “iPhone 5 killer” Sammy has ready for the market. And that’s where the Samsung Galaxy Skin comes in.

Forget Samsung Galaxy S2, iPhone 5 may have stiffer competition coming

Now if you’re wondering what the Samsung Galaxy Skin is, the International Business Times (IBT) has the scoop. Remember that flexible AMOLED display that Samsung unveiled recently (video below)? Well that piece of technology is making its way into the Samsung Galaxy Skin in Q2 2012.
IBT has the following specs to share on the Samsung Galaxy Skin:
4-inch WVGA SUPER AMOLED (800X480) Flexible type display, Android Flexy OS (most probably new the latest Android OS with a flexi-TouchWiz UI), 1.2 GHz processor, 4G connectivity, 8-megapixel camera plus VGA Telephony Camera with auto focus, self shot, action shot, Panorama shot, stop motion, smile shot and Add me features, 32 GB/16 GB, 1GB RAM and 1500 mAh battery.
Thanks to its flexible display which can wrap around a cylinder with a diameter as tight as 1-inch, you could wear this Android as a wristwatch, use it as a standing projector in meetings or set it up for viewing movies without a kickstand.
Furthermore, IBT adds that the ”the Galaxy Skin series phones may bring in the sensor sensitivity similar to that of ITC (Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation) for remote sensing which depending on change in weather and temperature, including change in color enables charging of solar battery, concept similar to photosynthesis.”
